Accounts Administrator
Permanent Full-Time Position

Location:  Waterlooville, Hampshire

The Role

The Accounts Administration Assistant will report directly to the Company Accountant and will play a vital role in supporting the finance function.


  • Credit Control – chasing outstanding debt and maintaining tight control
  • Assisting Company accountant with credit checking clients and setting credit limits;
  • Sales Ledger – raising invoices and allocating client payments;
  • Purchase Ledger – To assist in the management of the Purchase Ledger function of the Company, ensuring timely payment of invoices after authorisation of such. Entering purchase invoices and preparing payment schedule for BACs payment
  • Supplier statement reconciliation;
  • Assist with VAT;
  • Petty Cash function;
  • Preparing month end reports;
  • General Administration, including filing & scanning;
  • Dealing with customer queries;
  • Answering and transferring telephone calls to the relevant department;
  • General accounting duties to support the team;
  • Any other duties as assigned, to support the Company.


  • General office administration as & when required.
  • Provide regular feedback to relevant departments

Experience Required:

  • Good all round accounting knowledge
  • A good competent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Sage 50 accounts software


  • GCSE Maths & English grade C or above

Apprenticeship Vacancy Details

Position: This is an excellent opportunity working as part of a team you learn to specify and configure pump sets to meet customer briefs. The role will include completing proposals identifying suitable pumps, flange sets, vessels, valves and control systems

The Company: 

Action Pumps Ltd provides a supportive learning and working environment. We see value in apprenticeships with apprentices working in the technical sales area as well as the manufacturing workshop. We are friendly customer focused business we specialise in the manufacture of packaged pump sets for pressure boosting and water transfer applications. We design, build install and maintain a range of pumps assemblies.

The Role:

  • Wage is negotiable depending on experience of up to £14,250
  •  Learn how to complete detailed proposals
  • Work with the sales team to ensure that post-sale customer expectations are met
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of components and their applications
  • Learn how to use Auto-Cad to produce engineering drawings for internal and subcontract use
  • Design and configure pump sets for a range of customer specified applications
  • Develop existing products utilising your innovative approach to problem-solving
  • Create Bills of Materials and technical documentation to support the manufacturing process
  • Work in partnership with suppliers to make sure that externally sourced parts arrive on site in a timely manner
  • Liaise with the workshop team to ensure manufacturing milestones are met

Other Information:

  • The company are located on the Waterlooville industrial estate, you must be able to get yourself here on time reliably

  • This role will involve some travel to client sites (with colleagues).

Throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship, you will be required to attend PETA’s Havant training centre for off-the-job training. The majority of your development training will be completed with your employer at your place of work. You will be employed whilst you are completing your apprenticeship this will include 18 months of day release training at PETA Ltd where you will complete your Level 2 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) qualification. This will include:

  • Producing CAD models (drawings) using a CAD system
  • Conducting business improvement activities
  • Maintaining mechanical devices and equipment
  • Maintaining electrical equipment/systems
  • Maintaining electronic equipment/systems
  • General turning, milling and welding applications
  • Producing components using hand fitting techniques
  • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety
  • Working efficiently and effectively in an engineering environment
  • Using and communicating technical information
  • Conducting business improvement activities
  • You will then pass through the foundation Gateway and progress onto your Level 3 development programme and complete:
  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge)
  • EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)

Desired skills:

  • Your excellent communication skills will enable you to develop into a role where the ability to effectively communicate on a technical level with peers and management is crucial
  • Your logical approach to problem solving will enable you to make a good contribution to all aspects of the job
  • Have a good level of IT literacy, competent using MS Office
  • You will need to be productive when working as part of a team and independently with minimum supervision
  • Rounded individual

  • Science (desirable)

Sales Apprentice

Action Pumps in Waterlooville are looking for an internal sales person on an apprenticeship basis.

The main scope of job role:

Assisting with sales including quotations and order processing.

Maintaining customer relationships by maintaining the highest level of customer service.

Be a good team member working with all departments


IT Literate with good numeracy skills and understanding of profit margins

Training your Staff

At Action Pumps Head Office, we have a dedicated and fully fitted product training room generously equipped by some of our supplier partners, using this relatively unique facility to hold demonstrations, training sessions etc.
The training room can seat up to 10 people and includes a projector, flip charts and Wi-Fi access (available on request)
